is a Hungarian cellist and conductor. After completing his studies, he obtained his artistic degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
He had a particularly close collaboration in chamber music and friendship with his mentor Wilhem Hübner, the former concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic.
Lively concert activity has led Tibor Bényi across the whole of Europe. He has been a chamber music partner at international festivals with renowned artists. Amongst other places, he has performed concerts as a soloist and chamber musician at the Musikverein Wien in Vienna, the Herkules Hall and Gasteig in Munich, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Dvořák Hall in Prague and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
In 1995, he gave his debut in Paris at the Salle Gaveau with the Mozarteum Quartett Salzburg. Afterwards he performed several concerts in the most well-known castles and palaces of Europe. As a member of the Rosenkranz Quartett, he took part in numerous tours. Between 1998 and 2002, Tibor Bényi gave master courses in Bolzano. During this time, he developed a close friendship with Jürgen Geise, who was his most important musical companion.
His CD recordings with BIS and Hungaroton have been awarded several prizes in Europe and Japan. This was followed by continuous invitations to perform in Japan, especially in the famous Toppen Hall .
He serves as a guest conductor of various Hungarian orchestras. Since 2002, Tibor Bényi has directed the “Akadmie der Klassik Salzburg”.
